Last News from Ninebanks

As most of you know Ninebanks Youth Hostel has been on the market for a while, this is to let you know that we have now sold the building. The new owners are not planning to keep the hostel open so it will close on 7th August, and Orchard House will once again be a family home. Although the hostel will close, we’ve been able to rehome most of the furniture and fittings, predominantly to Tanners Hatch, Alston and Ballater hostels with the remainder to local people.

We have loved running the hostel mostly because of all the people we’ve met here over the years and we’re sorry to leave, but it’s time for us to move on. We’re retiring and moving to Scotland where we’ll have more time to spend with our grandchildren.

Thank you to those who set up and ran Ninebanks Youth Hostel before us. It’s the end of an era but hostels come and go.

Thank you to everyone who has stayed with us, next time you visit the North Pennines we can recommend a stay at Alston Hostel.

Best wishes from

Pauline & Ian, Kate Tess, Duncan and all the family and friends who have made Ninebanks Youth Hostel
