Our chalet has two self-contained studio rooms in a quiet spot by a delightful copse of trees with hens and vegetable garden nearby. Hen House has a double bed and Veg Patch has a double bed and a bunk, perfect for two adults plus up to two children.
Both rooms have their own entrance, a shower room, kitchenette, table and a sitting area with a wood burning stove. There is a connecting door which can be unlocked if both rooms are booked together.
With full central heating the chalet is open all year round and bookable for one night or more.
The chalet’s facilities are independent of the Youth Hostel. Life’s necessities – plus a few luxuries - are taken care of, each studio room has:

Tucked away between the hostel, a stone-walled field, a rising stand of trees and a burn, the chalet is perfect for a relaxing, unwinding stay and an opportunity to explore these beautiful surroundings. Venture as far as you like, from local forays to adventures in the moors, valleys and villages of the North Pennines, to explorations of Hadrian’s Wall and Northumberland.
The structural refurbishment of the chalet has been part funded by a grant from "European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development" which alongside substantial investment turned a redundant dormitory into a sound building, The chalet now provides comfortable self contained studio rooms.
