Ninebanks has probably the best self catering kitchen in a Youth Hostel so that you can easily create all of the meals that you need for you and your family or group.
But you don’t have to do it all yourself. If you’d prefer to spend your time exploring and relaxing, we can help out with our meal pack and catering services. We enjoy cooking for our guests and use fresh, local ingredients to create delicious meals for our guests.
For guests who have booked the whole hostel we can provide some or all of the catering for you. We can provide breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals find out more here
We are not able to do this for guests booking a bed, room or chalet room but we can offer meal packs which can be ordered in advance find out more here.
Alcoholic drinks
We always stock local ales from the nearby Allendale brewery and a selection of good wines. We are happy to take larger orders in advance for mini casks and beer boxes and have them set up ready for you.
Our licence does not allow guests to bring their own drinks to the hostel, except where they have exclusive use of the accommodation.
Self catering
The hostel kitchen has two domestic sized cookers, microwave, kettles, and fridge freezer.
The kitchenettes in the chalet rooms have tabletop oven with grill and hobs, microwave, kettle, and small fridge.
All these have pots, pans, cutlery and crockery, kitchen sink with tea towels and washing up liquid. All you need to bring is the food – unless you’ve ordered from us!
Pubs & cafes
There are pubs & cafes to eat out in Whitfield, Allendale, Allenheads and Alston. There is an Indian takeaway in Allendale, Fish & Chips in Alston and a pizza van in Allendale.
All these are subject to availability and worth checking out in advance.
