Informal groups or groups looking for a place to themselves, can book under our Exclusive Hire scheme. Simply book the whole hostel – six bedrooms, kitchen, sitting room, dining room, barbecue area are all yours. With the spacious and airy dining room right next to the kitchen and sitting room you have a great flexible space to gather everyone together. It works really well for groups of families, extended families, birthday and anniversary celebrations, stag and hen parties with that special difference, youth and charity groups...
You can book at most times of the year, rates vary with the season and whether your booking is weekend or midweek. There’s a minimum two night stay. A weekend booking, for example, runs from 4pm on the Friday to 12 noon on the Sunday – but additional nights are often available.
If you would like to take the pressure off, we can provide meals for you, for the whole group (we have to take over the kitchen for a while!). Everything from our standard filling and home-cooked evening meals to our special Celebration meals are available – we discuss with you what you would like and tailor a menu to suit.
Facilities at a glance:
The sitting room is a lovely relaxing space with stone floors, log burners and beams, overlooking the valley. There is no TV reception but we do have an extensive range of books and games to keep you entertained during your stay. Logs for the log burner are provided so you can relax.
Dining room - a large airy room big enough to seat 30 people or with tables pushed to one side is a great party venue. French doors open on to a patio with picnic tables and BBQs.
There are 28 beds in six rooms. Five are en-suite and the sixth has a private shower room adjacent. All beds are made up ready for your arrival. Please bring your own towels and toiletries.
There is central heating, payphone and a garden. Laundry and drying room facilities are available. Free wi-fi available (because we are rather rural, it’s a little limited in capacity).
There is a pleasant garden outside the front door of the hostel, a small grassed area below the terrace and a patio area with a picnic table. Round the side, the dining room opens on to an enclosed barbeque area with another two2 picnic tables including a small one for the children.
We should mention the spectacular view across the West Allen valley to the fells beyond. The hostel is situated on a quiet lane that leads to nowhere. Watching the unpolluted night skies is a real treat
